Thyroid disorder topic is one of most important topic that you should study for NPTE. However, just basic materials will not make you pick the right answer. Then, What should you know more about? Based on my 6 years studying for NPTE, there might be have 3 level of different kind of questions about thyroid disorder.

Here’s a basic question. This will makes you to know about sign&symptoms like physiological things. Just knowing sign& symptoms is not enough to pass this topics. However, It’s so basic! so try first question here!

A physical therapist is checking the chart of a patient who was recently admitted to hospital. Heat intolerance, Increased body’s metabolism, unintentional weight loss and a rapid or irregular heartbeat, Low TSH level. Which is the following option?1.hyper-thyroidism

2.hypo-thyroidism

3.hyper-parathyroidism

4.hypo-parathyroidism

Second things that you should know about is a “Different diagnosis”. Can you distinguish from Grave’s disease VS Hashimoto’s disease? and If you would understand about Endocrine systems simply. That would lead you to right direction.

Third things can be more complex with a specific story’s. For example,

3. A 75 years old patient with hyperthyroidism and heart angina. he would like to stay home. No activity. And just said he want to lie on bed. Feeling fatigue. When he walk on down stairs he has knee pain. Which symptoms is most dangerous to him?

  1. Joint pain
  2. Muscle weakness
  3. Fatigue
  4. Heart angina

What I think of myself about thyroid disorder topics are not that hard. Just think about 3things. First, sign & symptoms. Second, Different diagnosis with endocrine system knowledge (Be careful to study deep). Third, Story. (If the question is a story based, you should read precisely
